Today I transferred the Govannen Kirby Twins gig from minidisk to hard disk. 2 hour set - some good stuff there - If I tweak the sound right (mostly need to lose bass and the odd big cajon drum hit) there is definitely a good live album there I think.

Just transferring the last Continuum gig too - only the 2nd half came out OK - interesting to hear how my 1st gig with the Moogerfooger Murf came out. Nice new textures. Got a good drum sound this time too.

Another Govannen gig came in on the phone

In the evening I had a really nice gig again at the Mosaic Club - their 2nd birthday party - lots of other interesting acts including a flute sextet. Met some nice people and nice to see old friends. I sang a couple of new songs as well. - Leaves and Finally. A djembe was there so i got himto join me on some songs. Turns out we both had played with Roger Pugh on his album and on his CD launch gig.

Set 1 - Songrise, Alien Salad Abduction, Lifespell, Same Shore, Leaves, Bobby Caseys (low whsitle), Somewhere Over The Rainbow (theremin), improv (theremin),  3 Headed Girl
Set 2 - Finally, Forget About You, Rainbow Reel (twin whistles),  Long Days Waiting,  The Hammer Song

A night with almost total lack of sleep rather trashed the day.
Deciding inspirational, organisational and technical work was out I worked my way thru the marathon Govannen Kirby Twins recordings - mastering as I went - kind of slow mechanical work - we seem to've done a 45min set followed by a 90minute one that night. The sound isn't heaps better than our last live recording, Neil's cajon drum is there but not always crystal clear - mostly acts as bass drum -  but we did so many songs and tunes in the set there is bound to be some useable stuff there if we wanted it. There's some fun chat in there too.

2 more gigs came in for Govannen.

Jack McDevitt's Chindi is proving to be quite a pageturner. His crashes are usually at the end but it;s been a fun trip. Likewise the Bradbury short stories The Machineries of Joy are proving his high quality.

Watched the 1st half of Another Thin Man DVD in the evening.

I heard Newhart tell a funny one in an interview.
A colleague of his was presenting a TV show with kids. One kid was obviously not joining in and in a break the presenter asked him what was up.
The kid said "My dog died today so I'm kind of upset "
The presenter said, "Well son, your dog is now in doggie heaven and tho you will live a long long time, when you die you will be able to be together again in heaven with your dog"
The kid looked confused and then asked, "What would God want with a dead dog?"
