Last week I realised that my "lost" songs album would be incomplete without a song I wrote with my pal Jodi Krangle some 8+ years ago - about the time we wrote Whenever on the Earth Rising album. Called - Time Will Tell - somehow we never made it gel - over the years I would dust it off, try something new - change the tempo - try it as a jazz ballad - put it away again. So yesterday I set to record it (this time as a kind of bossa) with hopes of securing Jodi down the wire on some harmonies. Went pretty well - went to town arranging harmonies - adding nylon string guitar etc. It now sounds like there was nothing ever wrong with the song - it just found it's time I guess.
Today I packaged it up to send down the wire and likewise with the theremin recording I made for Jackie Leven.
I then updated my website - especially the monthly news section
I have some free mp3 downloads of my filmscores - all at 192kps - mostly from the creepy Kafka-esque film The Appointment - 20mins of free music on the downloads page
I changed 5 of the songs on my myspace too - adding new song Spirit Cloak from the future lost songs project.
My brother Jules sent me a double cd of piano quartet by Simeon ten Holt - Horizon that he had surplus. Nice stuff - minimal and gently relentless.
In the evening had a brief look over some filk songs for the weekend (inc some I;ve not touched in almost 2 years) and then I watched The Lavender Hill Mob on DVD
Bookwise - I finished Chindi by Jack McDevitt - it remained a pageturner til the end tho it did seem increacingly unlikely all the things that happened happened so quickly to the same small group of people.
I started a Charles Stross book Singularity Sky but found it tiresome to read and gave up after a while. Started on To Hold Infinity by John Meaney - another new-to-me author - so far it's OK.
