Yesterday I dispatched the new Celtic Reiki mixes to collaborator Llewellyn - job done - no really this time I'm done.
Then I wrote and sent e-newsletter - got quite a few undelivered this time - folks must've moved ISPs a lot or died or just avoiding my spam.
Needed to get out of studio and office to went to music store and got some kit for my new laptop. Got simple usb soundcard Alesis io2 - neat. Also got a midi keyboard Novation 45SL Compact. Not so good. Taking it back. Spent evening gingerly putting things on laptop - eg Open Office - cool. Alesis drivers etc. Freebie Cubase LE that came with card. Then messed with the Novation keyboard - it was abudget model but the build quality was atrocious - one key had a jagged edge, the pitchbend was wonky, and one key went "thunk" after releasing it. The automapping software that had sold me on it I couldn't even get it to see Cubase. Plus I realised the feel of the keys was horrid so it;s going back - there is a model up that looks better made. I can live with non-existant automapping but not a stiff keyboard.
Still on the plus side I made a start - Open Office and Cubase is on and I got the soundcard to work with a virtual synth.
Trying to source lighter gig bag for my non-standard sized piano - the bulky bag I have now is putting me off taking it to gigs.
I finished my book JP Kelley - Look Into the Sun - a pretty good read. Not the absolute tops but the pages turned.
Gonna trty another John Meaney - Paradox next.
